Henry would like you to check out our Gallery of Animals and Gardens Here

We currently have two dogs –  Henry & Molly (maltese / shitzu). You will normally be greeted by the dogs, who love to be a part of everything!

We have three mini horses – Pippa, Sunny and Fudge. They are  happy to come up and see visitors and love to eat bread. Sunny was born December 2008 and Fudge was born November 2009.

We have two alpacas (not Llamas) – Luigi (Rav) and Armani. Luigi is black and looks very similar to the camels that used to be in the Rav 4 commercial on TV – hence his nickname Rav. Armani is a red/brown colour. Two boys, so we are not anticipating any baby alpacas any time soon!!

Blackie is the black sheep of the family. In January 2009, he got a new cell-mate - a black and white angora goat, named Billy.

Now for the cattle…. Too many to name them all here, but rest assured they all have names (except for the steers, who don’t plan on hanging around too long on the farm!) The patriarch of the herd is a Murray Grey bull called Jake. He is very quiet and has produced some wonderful offspring.

Vanilla and Chocolate were the first calves we bought – when they were 5 and 3 days old respectively. Within a couple of weeks we acquired Top Deck, who (at 3 days old) was not given much chance of survival. Amazing what bottlefeeding and a lot of TLC can do! All three calves thrived, and have now had several calves of their own.

Over the years it has become known in certain circles that Sunny Ridge is a great home for “orphans”, or animals who would not normally have a good chance in life. Needless to say, that our four-legged family continues to grow!

We adopted Charlie, (Bazadaise/charbray) at two weeks old, in October 2007, and successfully put him with one of our cows to foster as her own. After several weeks, they had bonded so well, that we were able to let them out with the rest of the herd. Although Charlie was a bit scrawny and misshapen when we got him, he continues to thrive and is growing into a lovely, quiet bull.

We have 4 chooks, who provide us with eggs, and who love to eat the weeds. Good recycling don’t you think!

Late most afternoons, we have a group of lorikeets and king parrots who come to visit us at the Function area. Ron feeds them, and they are getting tamer – like the chooks, they all look the same, so they don’t have names!!

In May 2009 we inherited some peacocks. We had always thought the idea of peacocks wandering through the gardens would be a nice touch, but most people had warned against it - due to the noise that peacocks make!  Anyway ..... we were offered these beautiful birds, and couldn't say no!  No problems so far - we have heard them from time to time, but when you hear the sheep, goats, cows, lorikeets and galahs (not to mention when the alpaca boys fight), it's nothing to worry about!!  Ah, life on the farm ....
