Henry

We have one dog –  Henry (maltese / shitzu). You will normally be greeted by the Henry, who loves to be a part of everything!

We have five mini horses – Pippa, Pearl, Vindy, Shandy and Jarmoo. They are  happy to come up and see visitors and love to eat carrots (and bread for a treat).

We have two alpacas (not Llamas) – Luigi and Armani. Two boys, so we are not anticipating baby alpacas any time soon!!

We have a pair of Damara sheep (Gina & Geoffrey), and a black and white Damara/Dorper ewe named Lolly.  They continue to supply us with lambs, which are always a great source of entertainment. Billy is our Angora goat who is very friendly and loves to eat just about anything!

Now for the cattle…. Too many to name them all here, but rest assured they all have names (except for the steers, who won’t be hanging around too long on the farm!) The patriarch of the herd is a Murray Grey bull called Jake. He is very quiet and has produced some wonderful offspring.

Over the years it has become known in certain circles that Sunny Ridge is a great home for “orphans”, or animals who would not normally have a good chance in life. Needless to say, that our four-legged family continues to grow!

We adopted Charlie, (Bazadaise/charbray) at two weeks old, in October 2007, and successfully put him with one of our cows to foster as her own. Although he was a bit scrawny and misshapen when we got him, Charlie has grown into a lovely, quiet bull.

We have many chooks, who provide us with eggs, and who love to eat the weeds. Good recycling don’t you think!

Late most afternoons, we have a group of lorikeets and king parrots who come to visit us at the Function area. Ron feeds them, and they are getting tamer.

In May 2009 we inherited some peacocks. We had always thought the idea of peacocks wandering through the gardens would be a nice touch, but most people had warned against it - due to the noise that peacocks make!  Anyway ..... we were offered these beautiful birds, and couldn't say no!  No problems so far - we have heard them from time to time, but when you hear the sheep, goats, cows, lorikeets and galahs (not to mention when the alpaca boys fight), it's nothing to worry about!!  Ah, life on the farm ....
